We are interested in getting a custom-made suit for our upcoming wedding. What is the process and what do you recommend?

When planning your wedding suit, always allow at least 10 weeks! At this point your bride will be aware of the colours and themes for your big day and you can adjust your style accordingly. Tuxedos are very much the formal Bermuda attire, but you can have so much fun creating your personalised masterpiece with a made-to-measure suit from Alexandre at The English Sports Shop. Our specialist bespoke tailors will help you choose from our selection of brightly coloured linings, shawl collars, notch lapels or the currently popular peak lapels to create a suit that flatters your strong points. We recommend careful consideration of the shoulder width, lapel width and the accentuation of shape into your waistline. Trousers should be slim, tapered and tailored to just three-quarters of an inch of break at the bottom—no more or the suit will look ill fitting!

Also popular are colourful Bermuda shorts, knee socks, an impeccably tailored blazer, a classic white shirt and a tie to marry into your colour scheme. If you are inclined to go the linen route, remember that linen creases and can look unflattering in the photographs. Instead, look at mohair-mix cloths which are ultra-lightweight, with a natural wicking that will keep you cooler even in Bermuda’s brutal humidity.
