Locals Doya Morgan and Showande Butterfield have known each other since they were kids, and on May 7th of 2015, after so many years, the loving twosome finally tied the knot.
The couple married at Newstead Belmont Hills in front of eighty friends and family. The intimate ceremony took place on the terrace overlooking the magnificent view of Hamilton Harbour. When asked for one of her fondest memories of the ceremony, Doya said “For both the bride and groom the moment that stood out the most was the anticipation of walking down the aisle and when we met at the end. We both knew our lives were about to change for the better – and we were right. At that point the months of planning and preparation had come together. The feeling of the moment was so surreal.”
The newly married pair and their guests moved to Newstead’s Sanzibar for the cocktail reception where they enjoyed a spectacular night of celebration with music, drinks, hors d’oeuvres and of course, some wedding cake. For other bride-to-be’s hoping to enjoy a similarly seamless wedding, Doya says to make the wedding planning as stress free as possible. And finally, she says “have positive, creative and organized people on your ream that are clear of your vision, and don’t allow others to steal you and your groom’s moment!”
