Situated in Paget Parish and overlooking Bermuda’s famed and picturesque south shore is Coral Beach and Tennis Club, a private members-only club that lends its idyllic and expansive 26-acres to visiting guests, club members and special occasions.

Coral Beach has played host to noteworthy tennis matches and many a famous face since the club opened its doors in 1948. With immaculately landscaped grounds, wedding and croquet lawns, a picturesque beach and a marble terrace overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Coral Beach has become a favourite among engaged couples, both those of local origin and those from abroad, looking to wed in Bermuda.

One couple that can testify to Coral Beach’s magnificent facilities is Jennifer Pietila and Nicholas Thuell who wed at the property on September 6, 2015.

Originally, the happy couple were to marry on the Croquet Lawn and celebrate with a cocktail hour on the Putting Green and a reception on the Longtail Terrace; however, inclement weather changed their plans at the last minute. Their ceremony was held in the main clubhouse instead, followed by a seated dinner in the club’s formal dining room. Luckily, the couple’s 100 guests were seated comfortably throughout and when the rain finally cleared after dinner, the newlyweds and their guests made their way triumphantly to the marbled Longtail Terrace for dancing under the stars.

Anyone who has ever taken in the view from the Longtail Terrace will attest that it is breathtaking and indeed worthy of a couple’s first hours as husband and wife. “Our inspiration for booking Coral Beach was the stunning view from Longtail Terrace,” says Jennifer. “We didn’t have to fuss too much with décor because the views were so incredible.”

Aiding the couple in making their day perfect were wedding planner Selange Gitschner and floral designer Suzan Sickling. Together they focused on beautiful greenery and an abundance of flowers with simple, clean table décor, white linens and hurricane lanterns, all of which tied in perfectly with the venue’s old Bermuda charm.

Despite the rain, wind and last-minute move indoors, Jennifer and Nicholas were thrilled with Coral Beach and Tennis Club as the venue for their wedding day. The historic property with all of its accoutrements made their ceremony and reception just as they had imagined—perfection.
